Rocketplane is sort of a dark horse in the race to establish a non-government Space Tourism business. They've got a good mix of practical craft design, together with a bold business plan and schedule, and they just might surprise the heck out of some better known efforts like Virgin Galactic and SpaceX. They've been highlighted in this Popular Science article.

- This is a cool discover.com article covering Brad Edwards' NASA-sponsored research into Space Elevator technology. His completed work under a $500,000 NASA research grant reveals the technological and economic feasibility of space elevators. He further asserts: "Soon some country or corporation is going to build a ribbon up to the sky. Then the question of who owns the moon or Mars will be answered."

- In July of 1984 at the Case for Mars II workshop, this Mars Mission Scenario was worked out to demonstrate that such a voyage was within our grasp, even with the technology of the day.

- This is ATK Thiokol's site about their proposed plan to use proven technology from the Space Shuttle program to build rocket boosters for transporting the people and materials that we need into space in order to build & occupy orbital structures and assemble larger craft for voyages to Mars and beyond. - Scaled Composites is the company founded by eminent aerospace designer Burt Rutan, who's long list of accomplishments recently includes SpaceShipOne, the first non-government funded spacecraft to transport a human outside Earth's bonds and winner of the Ansari X-Prize.
